If you're the type that enjoys blogs that take you to the real-deal heart of a profession, I highly suggest It's a Baby not Brain Surgery. It's written by an L&D Nurse and has some amazing tales on it. Stories span from ridiculously funny to bizarre to heartbreaking.

I can't stop reading.

Birthing Classes, Here I Come

I just signed up for a wealth of birthing classes at AAMC. I'm uber excited, though still a bit scared, too.

But that's normal, I'm sure.

Here's the classes I'm taking:

Daddy Bootcamp (Tim is taking this. Basically, Dads bring their kids in so that Dads-to-be can actually practice parenting on real babies. EEP! But cool.)

Breastfeeding Basics- The name pretty much says it.

One Wonderful Weekend- parenting workshops for new parents. Explains all the goods to you about birthing and raising a baby.

SpaMama-
more positions, breathing and meditation for birth. Learn additional positions for greater ease during the last weeks of pregnancy and during labor and birth.

Newborn Care- Learning how to diaper, swaddle and comfort, choose and prepare infant formula, how (and where) to take temperature and when to call a doctor. Sleep strategies for parents and babies and how to handle too much advice.

I think these classes will be really great, though I muse admit that right now I'm pretty sure classes will give me like 1/3 of the knowledge, then it's up to street smarts!

Last week I went to the doc and, since they were having issues with the doppler finding the heartbeat, they gave me a new round of sonograms. Since the tech running the sonogram was on her first day at the practice, she tested out the picture taking features with me and I got some new pics. These are going into the blackmail baby book, for sure.

It's so pretty out today. It's very hard for me to get important stuff done, as all I'm doing is daydreaming about going home, brewing some iced tea, sitting on the porch and being lazy. Too bad I have so much work to do.

That's one fancy Momma!

I just did it.

I just splurged on my first mum-to-be products. A little something to pamper me and make me feel all sparkly pretty.

Back Story-

My skin has been awful since getting preg-o. I'm washing it with tea tree face wash and using normal lotion (can't use my good, fancy stuff due to Vitamin A and Salycilic acid) and I'm still getting the worst acne ever. Like painful, grody lookin, I should be fifteen kind of acne. It's making me feel all sorts of ugly and is sapping my cuteness factor, so I knew I had to do something about it.

So, I did what any modern girl would do and went online, where a group of my preggers peers could give me reviews and point me in the right direction for fresh, purdy skin. A bunch of the women professed their love for Belli Products, a line of skincare and pampering made for preggers chicks. Since I am a total sucker for good design and fancy, pretty girlie looking things (hey, even us tomboys can rock some pampering), I picked myself up the Acne Wash and Face Lotion.

If all goes well and I like this stuff, I will also spring for the Belly Oil... though I want to give their face stuff a whirl before I become a true devotee.

Chinese Gender Predictor

The ancient and might Chinese Gender Chart says that I am having a girl.

Yeah, really it's just a fun, chintzy thing on The Nest Baby, but I felt like doing it for fun. I'll check back in a few months to see if it was correct.
